Jaywalker issued summons after being hit by truck in Hackensack, police charge

A man's day went from bad to worse when he was issued a summons for jaywalking after being hit by a car in Hackensack Tuesday evening, according to police. 

Hackensack police

Daniel Gallagher, 57, was hit by a pickup truck on South River Street near Broadway around 6:15 p.m., according to police. Gallagher was not in a crosswalk when he was hit.

He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, police stated. His condition and last address were not known, according to police.

Gallagher was issued the summons for jaywalking and the driver, a New Milford man, was not charged with any offense, nor was he injured, police stated.

The Hackensack Fire Department and ambulance corps responded with police.
