Police found a tactical rifle and two handguns along with marijuana during a traffic stop in Paterson, authorities announced on Thursday.

Carlos Barroso, 29, of Norfolk, Virginia, was arrested after being pulled over on Wednesday near 11th Avenue and East 24th Street, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik stated in a press release.

Detectives saw Barroso circling the area numerous times while not wearing a seat belt and with a broken taillight on his vehicle, Berdnik stated. Detectives then smelt marijuana and Barroso turned over a small bag of it, according to Berdnik.

The detectives also saw the handle of a handgun wrapped in clear plastic near the rear passenger seat, along with eight rounds of ammunition, the county sheriff stated. In the trunk detectives found a DPMS Ar-15 tactical rifle along with another handgun, plus ammunition for all three weapons, according to Berdnik.
