Long lines bid goodbye to Lincoln Park retired police captain

Multiple area police departments took the lead in the procession from St. Joseph Church in Lincoln Park to East Hanover, for retired Lincoln Park Police Capt. Ronald Wild, who died on May 20.

LINCOLN PARK — Lines wrapped around the building at the Keri Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday as friends and family attended services for retired police Capt. Ronald Wild, 71.

He was a police officer and eventually police captain as well as a U.S. Army veteran who served in Vietnam.

Deacon Tony Barile helps friends and family say goodbye to his brother-in-law Ronald Wild at the Gate of Heaven cemetery in East Hanover. Wild served on the Lincoln Park police force for 29 years.

"I could not be more proud or more honored to have had Ron Wild as my dad," said his daughter and Lincoln Park resident, Jaime Wild-Lang.

Wild, who died on May 20, was an active member of the community. He coached the Lincoln Park Raiders football team for 15 years. He was also president of the Pacquenac Tennis Club in Pequannock. His roles in the police department included chief of detectives and head of community relations.

Wild retired at the rank of captain after 29 years with the Lincoln Park Police Department.

"He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all who had the privilege of knowing him and his whimsical spirit," said Wild-Lang.
