Ptl. Zachary Walsh of the Mountain Lakes Police warns residents to lock their cars after a number of burglaries.

Mountain Lakes Police Department is advising residents to lock their cars following a rash of break-ins.

On May 23, eight cars were burglarized and a Land Rover was reported stolen, said Ptl. Zachary Walsh.

"The Land Rover was stolen from the owner’s driveway, which had the key fob in it," Walsh said.

Last month three high-end vehicles were reported stolen within one week.

According to police, all vehicles burglarized or stolen had been left unlocked.

Police said the investigation continues.

"In several of the burglaries more than one car was in the driveway and only the one that was unlocked was burglarized," said Walsh. "The locked vehicles were left untouched."
