There’s no missing the new Fourth of July decoration at Verona Town Hall.

An American flag painted outside of Verona Town Hall.

Members of the Department of Public Works have painted an American flag across the lawn on Bloomfield Avenue to prepare for Independence Day. DPW Supervisor Chuck Molinaro said people have “been raving about it.”

“I can’t tell you the amount of texts and emails I got about it,” Molinaro said.

Chris Guido and the son of the DPW supervisor – also named Chuck Molinaro – spent around five or six hours preparing the flag. It took an hour or two to measure the design and around four more to paint it, Molinaro said.

This was the first year of painting the flag for the Fourth of July. Molinaro said they wanted to do something special and came up with the idea.

How long the flag painting remains on the lawn depends on the weather.

“Depending how much rain we get, how fast the grass grows,” observed Molinaro, “it might last a week or two, it might last three.”
