Two lieutenants were released from the hospital following injuries they suffered while battling a fire at a Teaneck home on Wednesday.

The pair of firefighters were released Wednesday night, Battalion Chief Joseph Zbierski said on Thursday, though he did not have a further update on their condition. Zbierski said they were treated for “physical injuries” but did not know specifics.

The fire at a Wendel Place home started around 12:15 p.m. and took around an hour to put out, the battalion chief said. The cause remained under investigation.

“The scene was examined but there was not conclusive evidence to make a conclusion,” Zbierski said.

The second floor, where the fire was believed to have started in one of the bedrooms, had “pretty substantial” damage, he continued. One of the residents was home at the time while the other two were away, and the house was uninhabitable because of the fire and water damage, according to Zbierski.

The Englewood and Hackensack fire departments also responded.
