Kayla S. Pomales, 22, had 1,400 glassines of heroin in her bedroom that was seized along with $6,100 in cash, the Passaic County Sheriff’s Office announced on Tuesday.
“This was a major arrest and [seizure] of illegal narcotics,” Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik stated in a press release.
Detectives from the sheriff’s office were in the area of Fair Street and Rosa Parks Boulevard around 6 p.m. when they allegedly saw Pomales approach an idling vehicle driven by Christopher J. Zecchini, 29, of Middletown, N.Y., authorities said.
Detectives then allegedly saw Pomales hand Zecchini several small white objects that appeared to be packaged heroin, according to the sheriff’s office.
Zecchini was pulled over and found with four bundles of heroin, authorities said. He was arrested and released pending an upcoming court appearance, the sheriff’s office stated.
