New Jersey is home to some of the top high school football talent in the country, and before we know it, the state's best players will be taking the college football fields on Saturdays.

The USA TODAY NETWORK New Jersey will be tracking the state's top recruits each week, keeping college football fans everywhere up to date on how their potential future stars are performing.

Here is how New Jersey's best fared in Week 2:

Jalen Berger

Don Bosco Prep

Junior running back

Playing in his home county of Essex, Berger scored three first-half touchdowns to help the Ironmen build a 33-0 lead on their way to a 47-20 win at West Orange. His TDs came from 1, 5 and 7 yards.

Michael Connor

Ramapo

Senior wide receiver/linebacker

Connor, a 6-foot, 222-pounder, did most of his damage on defense in Friday's 28-9 victory over Northern Highlands. He finished with six tackles (five solo) and made one tackle for a loss.

Howard Cross

St. Joseph Regional (Montvale)

Senior defensive tackle

Cross was part of a stellar defensive effort against DePaul that included four sacks - Cross had a half. He also had four tackles and a quarterback hurry.

Aeneas DiCosmo

Bergen Catholic

Senior tight end/linebacker/defensive end

DiCosmo scored the lone Crusaders' TD in Friday's 34-7 loss at St. Peter's. He caught a short pass from junior quarterback Andrew Boel and fought his way into the end zone for a 9-yard score in the first quarter.

Ronnie Hickman

DePaul

Senior wide receiver

Hickman had two catches for 104 yards including a scintillating 85-yard catch and run for the Spartans in a losing effort against St. Joe's. He was targeted two other times. On defense he had three tackles and a forced fumble.

Rahmir Johnson

Bergen Catholic

Senior running back

Johnson ran for more than 130 yards in the Crusaders' 34-7 loss at St. Peter's. His 51-yard run in the first quarter set up the team's lone score.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder is considering Vanderbilt, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Rutgers among his college choices. He helped the Paladins' O-line pave the way for 277 yards rushing in Friday's 54-42 win over Hackensack.

Frankie Negrini

Pompton Lakes

Senior running back

The hard-nosed runner carried the ball 21 times for 113 yards and a touchdown in the Cardinals' 15-0 win over Secaucus. He averaged 37.5 yards per punt on special teams and recorded five tackles.

Charles Njoku

Wayne Hills

Senior wide receiver

The Missouri-bound star set a career high with four touchdown catches in Wayne Hills' 35-16 win over state champion NV/Old Tappan. Njoku ended the night with 138 receiving yards and took over the game with his size and agility.

Jasiah Purdie

Hasbrouck Heights

Senior wingback

On Friday, Purdie scored five touchdowns and had well over 200 all-purpose yards in one of his finest performances in an Aviator uniform. He made three catches for 148 yards and ran the ball effectively for Hasbrouck Heights. The Aviators (3-0) cruised to a 42-6 win over Becton.

Taquan Roberson

DePaul

Senior quarterback

Roberson completed eight passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran the ball 12 times for 50 yards in the Spartans loss to DePaul.

Wayne Hills

Senior lineman

The Syracuse-bound Rondi contributed on both sides of the ball on Friday when Wayne Hills picked up its second straight win. The 6-foot-4, 265-pound lineman was strong up front as the Patriot running game combined for 235 rushing yards. He also added three sacks and six total tackles on defense.

Ryan Shaw

Emerson

Senior running back

Shaw carried 12 times for 96 yards as the Cavos improved to 3-0 with Friday's 13-6 victory at Wood-Ridge. Shaw has totaled 371 rushing yards in three games.

AJ Wingfield

Ramapo

Senior quarterback

The Franklin Lakes resident completed 11-of-18 passes (61 percent) for 137 yards and four TDs – two to Isaiah Savitt and two to Ty Jaten – in leading the 3-0 Green Raiders past Northern Highlands, 28-9. He added 55 yards on seven rushes.

Luke Wypler

St. Joseph Regional (Montvale)

Junior offensive tackle

It's hard to quantify the job of an offensive lineman, but we'll try by saying that the Green Knights ran for 213 yards against DePaul and Green Knights quarterback Michael Alaimo was sacked once.

Antonio Alfano

Colonia

Senior offensive lineman/defensive lineman

The University of Alabama commit paved the way for a running game that amassed more than 200 yards on the ground in a 29-7 victory over J.F. Kennedy. Alfano also had seven tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, a caused fumble and two hurries.

Myles Bailey

North Brunswick

Junior running back

Bailey, who holds scholarship offers from Minnesota, Syracuse and Boston College, rushed for a season-high 98 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries in a 26-21 victory over Edison.

Jacari Carter

Sayreville

Senior slotback/defensive back

Carter caught six passes for 93 yards and a touchdown and recorded an interception in a 21-19 victory over Edison.

Jordan Davis

St. Joseph (Metuchen)

Senior running back/receiver

Davis rolled up more than 100 yards from scrimmage for the third consecutive game, rushing for 126 yards and a touchdown in a 23-14 victory over South Plainfield. 

Connor Holmes

Sayreville

Senior running back/receiver

Holmes, who holds a scholarship offer from Army, aught five passes for 96 yards and a touchdowns and rushed four times for 62 yards in a 21-19 victory over Woodridge.

Thomas Joe-Kamara

South Brunswick

Senior running back/defensive back

The Temple University commit scored a touchdown for the third straight game and was integral to a triple-option offense that rolled up 274 yards on the ground in a 35-21 loss to Piscataway.

John Olmstead

St. Joseph (Metuchen)

Senior tackle

The University of Notre Dame commit helped pave the way for an offense that amassed nearly 300 yards in a 23-14 win over South Plainfield.

Nate Wyatt

St. Joseph (Metuchen)

Senior wide receiver/defensive back

The Temple University commit intercepted a pass for the second consecutive week and had a 64-yard touchdown reception in St. Joseph's 23-14 win over South Plainfield.

Izaiah Henderson

Henderson, who is rated the No. 1 recruit in High School Football Recruiting analyst Chris Melvin's Shore Conference recruiting rankings and is a Boston College recruit, has helped Mater Dei Prep get off to a 3-0 start with just 15 points allowed


C.J. Hanson

Senior offensive lineman

A right tackle, Hanson, who is also a Rutgers' right tackle, made the key block that sprung running back Kavon Chambers for a game-clinching 44-yard touchdown run in the Lancers' 21-7 win over Brick. He also made several key blocks on St. John Vianney's first TD drive.

Lubischer, a Boston College recruit, threw four TD passes and went 9-for-14 for 156 yards while playing just the first half in the Caseys' 45-7 win over Red Bank Catholic.  

Shitta Sillah

Sillah, who is another Boston College recruit and is the No. 4-ranked recruit in Melvin's Shore Conference recruiting rankings, has been stellar for Mater Dei Prep's defense.

Tyreke Brown

Brown caught a touchdown pass and picked off another to highlight the Red Devils' 19-6 win over visiting Paulsboro. The senior accumulated 27 yards both rushing and receiving.

King hauled in a team-high five catches for 73 yards as the Tigers remained unbeaten with a 36-13 win at Frankford (Pa.). King was part of a passing game that produced 318 yards and four touchdowns by Nick Kargman.
