Several surrounding towns helped to quell a Rockaway fire on Saturday that displaced some, police said.

“It was uninhabitable,” said  Lt. Peter Reilly of the Rockaway Township Police Department. “The Red Cross took care of the family.”

The fire department responded to a 6:34 p.m. alarm in a building at 14 East Blackwell Street that had both commercial and residential use, according to Lt. Peter Reilly of the Rockaway Township Police Department.

“There were no injuries, whatsoever,” Reilly said. “Everybody was accounted for.”

The cause of the fire has not been released yet, but Rockaway Township’s detectives found nothing suspicious at the scene, Reilly said.

The American Red Cross, which helps finds shelter for people displaced by disasters, was contacted on behalf of the residents, police said.
