$372 million Mega Millions winning ticket sold in Ohio

One lucky person from the Buckeye State has a whole lot more to celebrate this holiday season.

The Mega Millions $372 million jackpot was won by a lottery player in Ohio on Tuesday night, according to the lottery website. It was the only ticket to match the winning numbers of: 22 - 30 - 53 - 55 - 56 and Megaball 16.

The big winner will have the option of skipping the annuity payments and taking a cash payout of $251.5 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot had been steadily growing since it was last won on Sept. 24, when a $225 million winning ticket was sold in Texas.

In addition to the jackpot, there were four other million dollar tickets in the Tuesday, Dec. 17 drawing.

Three tickets sold in Iowa, New York and West Virginia won $1 million by matching all five white balls. One ticket sold in Pennsylvania also had the Megaplier to win $2 million.

The New York $1 million ticket was sold at the Stop & Shop on Newtown Lane in East Hampton, according to the New York Lottery website.

The Mega Millions jackpot now resets to $40 million for Friday night's drawing, with a cash option of $27 million.

Didn't hit the Mega Millions? The Powerball jackpot has been growing too.

The Powerball jackpot is at $160 million with a cash option of $108.7 million for Wednesday's drawing, according to the Powerball website.
